Overview

Woodfield Academy is a non-profit/private school that provides individualized education for students in grades 3-12.  Woodfield is devoted to the development of academic, and social/emotional growth.  Woodfield Academy is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, and also a member of the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA).

·         Every student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that reflects their own academic, social and emotional needs.

·         A Community Building model is used school wide for behavior and classroom management, in which students and teachers meet together to solve problems.

·         All teachers have been trained to use "Corrective Reading" to systematically improve students' word attack skills and comprehension.

·         The student/teacher ratio is 10:1 school wide to facilitate individual students needs.

·         A social skills class is taught to 3rd - 7th graders.

·         Academic expectations, including homework and organization skills, are established by teachers, parents, and students collaboratively.

·         Development of an experiential learning program for social/emotional growth is in process for the coming year.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a day school for students in Central Georgia who have been professionally diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and/or a learning difference.  The goal of the program is to help students learn how to learn on an individualized basis.
